These leaks mentioned a game in the world of Andrej Sapkowski, where reference points of the industry such as Witcher 3 take place.<\/p>\n
With a lean announcement<\/a> CDPR announced that the first game in the new Witcher Saga is already in development without committing to a release date or timeline. Notably, after a long tradition of in-house game engines, the company is changing course and will exclusively use Unreal Engine 5 for its new open-world title. A lot of speculation can be made around this decision, and there will be plenty of analysis and official confirmations to come. So far, it appears that the developers are seeking the support of their colleagues at Epic Games to enable them to create open-world experiences comparable to the company's (good) legacy. In an official statement, the company also confirmed that in their current plans this decision will not affect the game's digital distribution policy. The latter remains to be seen.
