I've only played Guildmaster. What's different about the campaign?
Campaign Story: The story branches, which is unlike Guildmaster. Which scenarios open (and close) is much more more dependent on what choices you make. While the campaign has 95 scenarios, any given run through may only play half of those.
Retirement: New characters get a Personal Quest, a long term goal. Completing Personal Quests is the main way of unlocking new characters. On completing the PQ, the character retires, and can't be played further. The player must therefore create a new character. New characters can be of any unlocked class, though it's usual to create one of the just-unlocked class.
Bonus Perks: Newly created characters get a number of bonus perks, related to the number of previously retired characters.
Battle Goals: Give check marks rather than XP. Three checks get you a perk.
Gloomhaven Wealth (Prosperity): Various quests and events raise or lower the wealth of Gloomhaven. Items get added to the store as wealth increases. New characters can start at any level up to the Wealth value, and existing characters may level up to the Wealth level when in Gloomhaven.
Reputation: Your standing with the citizens of Gloomhaven. The main effect is to the price of items.
Town Records: Tracks and record past and current characters' history, and relates some Gloomhaven history.
City Events: Like road encounters, only in town. Generally more beneficial.
Personal Gold:
Each character has their own wealth. It isn't possible to pass gold from one character to another.
Miscellaneous:
The character reset button will be disabled.
