Valve Proton - Τρέξτε Windows games σε Linux

Η Valve έβγαλε μια δικιά της έκδοση του Wine ώστε να μπορεί να εγκαταστήσει κάποιος windows game σε linux χωρίς να υπάρχει native υποστήριξη τους.

Οπως λενε πάντως αργότερα θα διαθέσουν όλο τον κατάλογο του steam games για εγκατάσταση.

Υπόψην ότι μπορεί κάποιος να εγκαταστήσει κάποιο game που δεν υπάρχουν καν στην official λίστα. Δείτε εδώ σε αυτό το blog οδηγίες για το πως βάζουμε την beta έκδοση του steam client και πως τρέχουμε game η ακόμα πως κάνουμε εγκατάσταση game γενικά από όλη την library μας.

Έχω δοκιμάσει το Tekken που τρέχει άψογα. Κάνει ένα μικρό κόλλημα στην αρχή αλλά γενικά τρέχει χωρίς το παραμικρό πρόβλημα. Από την άλλη δοκίμασα το Nier Automata αλλά ενώ ξεκινάει κα τρέχει στην αρχή μια χαρά μετά από λίγο κάνει freeze το game και βγαίνει μόνο με σκότωμα του xserver.

Ο δε beta client του steam βγάζει και αυτός κάποια bug σε Kubuntu που είμαι δλδ ένα από αυτά είναι ότι μένει ανοιχτό στην task bar να τρέχει και θέλει kill για να κλείσει οριστικά.

Πάντως είναι τα αρχικά βήματα και νομίζω φέρνει επανάσταση στο linux gaming και σίγουρα η συμβατότητα με τον καιρό θα βελτιωθεί σημαντικά.
