Your journey as Corvo is a very personal story about revenge, redemption and moral questions. How does your character evolve? It totally reflects on your feelings
There is no reward in killing people and there is no reward in showing mercy either. It is your choice to do what you think is necessary for the task, what are your moral boundaries. Would you kill unsuspected guards just to go through a protected gate, would you kill a servant who just happened to see you sneaking about?
How much are you willing to do to complete your task, is taking all these lives really worth it?
How far are you willing to go?
It is near the end when you are asking yourself, am I really helping in a good cause, am I contributing to the better future of the city, or is it all a story of vengeance?
In this amazing emotional journey you will find yourself feeling betrayed and angry. By the last mission, I found my self killing the guards not because I needed to but because they were the people who betrayed me, part of a corrupt political system that I was going to bring down no matter the cost. How long until you progress by killing ? Blinking near the back of the guards, stabbing them in the neck and feeling a strange kind of joy. No you don’t get XP points or money, you just want to. You have the power and you want to, they are the ones who left you to die and now they are at your mercy and Motorhead’s song comes to mind “What if I was right behind you, smilling like a killer…”
Corvo is mad, broken, deadly. He has nothing left but need of revenge, his mind is blurred, he is not the man he used to be. He is an empty man, with vengeance in his mind, sword in his hand who wants to see the world burn
The ending I got was a dark one, yes everybody who ever hurt me was not breathing but the city was in chaos. What am I then? Am I a hero killing the bad guys or am I one of them?
The words of the outsider at the end say it all
“The empire was dying already, completely rotten, all that was needed was the right man to send it over the edge, but now you are over the horizon on a ship, I wonder are you chasing something or running away? “
But that is just my story in Dishonored, my journey. And unlike Asssassin’s Creed 2 story, this one is personal and each person gets something different from this great game
