Last week I read a thought-provoking article from MIT Technology Review regarding the misconception that LLVMs have "cognitive abilities".
Are we truly capturing the essence of AI's potential by applying human-centric tests to these digital entities? LLMs have demonstrated feats such as passing bar exams and medical licensing tests, often outperforming undergraduates.

But here's the burning question: Does this astonishing ability equate to real understanding, or is it a mirror reflecting our preconceived notions of intelligence?
And does that say something about the current tests being used to measure our abilities as human beings?
The LLMs, with their neural networks trained to predict text, are an intricate form of autocomplete playing on a much larger stage.

My point here is that maybe instead of trying to assess LLMs with such tests we should do the opposite. Measure how these test fail to capture human cognitive abilities and showcase the flaws in our education models / certifications.

Είχα μια αναλαμπή χθες το βράδυ, εκεί που χάζευα instagram reels μου πέταγε που και που κάτι AI made anime/manga και από κάτω οι "artists" έγραφαν δείτε τι έφτιαξα, πάρτε μερτζαντιζ και τέτοια...

Δεν έχω πρόβλημα με την AI art, ή με την AI γενικά, σήμερα μόλις έφτιαξα μια το κοπι τι πίτα με ΑΙ γιατί δεν μπορούσα να βρω στοκάδικη εικόνα με τίποτα πχ, αλλά με τους AI "artists"... είναι σαν να αγοράζεις έτοιμο κατεψυγμένο φαγάκι από ΣΜ, να το ζεσταίνεις μικροκύματα και μετά να βγάζεις μια ωραία φώτο το πιάτο, να την ανεβάζεις instagram και να μας λες τι φοβερός σεφ είσαι και τι έφτιαξες πάλι απόψε για φαγητό και ουαόυ!

Ναι, ακριβώς αυτό είναι η φάση. Όπως με το φαγάκι αυτό, κάποιος το σκέφτηκε και έβγαλε μια συνταγή (προγραμματιστές ΑΙ) κάποιο εργοστάσιο έκανε μαζική παραγωγή (η ΑΙ) και κάποιος το πήρε (ο χρήστης) και είτε το έφαγε γιατί πείναγε και έμεινε χορτάτος και χαρούμενος, είτε το έπαιζε σεφ γιατί κατάφερε τον άθλο του να το ζεστάνει στο φούρνο μικροκυμάτων.

Είναι απίστευτο το paradigm shitft με τα LLMs. σε 10 χρόνια θα έχει αλλάξει εντυπωσιακά το τοπίο πιστεύω. από εκεί που είχα κάποιεσ σκονισμένες γνώσεις coding. Έγραφα κυρίως js scripts για μάκρο σε google sheets και κάποια matlab.

Πλέον με αυτά με απλό promting πετάω μαζική παραγωγή python scripts. Συνήθως θέλει αρκετό troubleshooting αλλά παραμένει εντυπωσιακό. Η επεξήγηση έτοιμου κώδικα επίσης είναι φοβερά χρήσιμη.
