TOTAL WAR: MEDIEVAL III has been officially announced

The Total War 25th Anniversary Showcase has just ended, and it produced, among other things, perhaps the greatest possible revelation that could have been made: TOTAL WAR: MEDIEVAL III is officially in development by Creative Assembly.

Beyond the expected features, such as taking place in the Mid to Late Medieval period and including events like the Crusades, the 2 falls of Constantinople, and other similarly heartbreaking instances, in the discussion that followed the official announcement trailer, the game's developers said, among other things, that the game will be based on the latest version of the Warcore game engine, offering significantly improved visual quality and destructible environments powered by Havoc Physics. Another interesting piece of information they mentioned is that they will introduce several more options for customizing the course of the state we control. In the example they gave, playing as the "Holy Roman Empire" (which, as we know, was neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an Empire), we will have options as to whether to unify the disparate confederation of states or to further divide it, with the possibility of even transforming it into an early version of Germany. This part is somewhat reminiscent of Crusader Kings 3, and it will be interesting to see how it will be implemented in Medieval III.

The developers also stated that Medieval III is still in the "early pre-production" phase, so we are still quite far from any release date. However, even the simple announcement trailer shown during the showcase is enough to satisfy the long-standing desire of fans of historical Total War titles.
