The most important announcements from The Game Awards 2025
For yet another year, the 2025 Game Awards have come to an end, and with them, we have become wiser about what lies ahead, with quite a few interesting announcements. Of course, before we continue with the most important games presented at the event, we cannot fail to mention the deserving winner Clair Obscur Expedition 33, which swept the awards (including Game of the Year). A masterpiece that came out of nowhere, it has already made its mark and will be remembered in the future as one of the most important ambassadors of pop culture.
STAR WARS – FATE OF THE OLD REPUBLIC: We begin with one of the most intriguing announcements of the evening, a new action/RPG set in the Star Wars universe, which is also the spiritual successor to Knights of the Old Republic. This alone creates high expectations, but the fact that the game's director is Casey Hudson, creator of Mass Effect and director of KOTOR, gives us high hopes for something really good. We can't wait!
TOTAL WAR – WARHAMMER 40K: Creative Assembly continues to support the Total War series, this time in the beloved (and recently much-discussed) world of Warhammer 40k. The game does not yet have a release date, but early information suggests there will be four races (Space Marines, Orks, Astra Militarum, Aeldari) and intergalactic battles.
TOMB RAIDER: Amazon Games has announced not one, but two Tomb Raider games, which will be released in 2026 and 2027, respectively. The first, developed by Flying Wild Hog (known for the Shadow Warrior series) in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, is a complete remake of the original game and will be titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The second Tomb Raider, called Catalyst, will be a new title, developed entirely by Crystal Dynamics, although it is not clear whether it will be a sequel to the recent trilogy or something completely new.
CONTROL – RESONANT: After Alan Wake 2, Remedy is turning its attention to its other strong suit, namely the sequel to Control. Control: Resonant continues the "story" of Old House, which has now spread its net across New York City, while we note that the game will feature a new protagonist (however, Jesse does appear at some point in the trailer). It is expected to be released in 2026.
