CD Projekt today announced its plans for the future as part of its strategy update for investors and the news is very interesting. So according to the official announcement, CD Projekt has 3 (!) new Witcher games in the works, a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and a new game that will be a new IP. Let's take a look at the slide from the announcement and then we'll see details about each project:
So as we can see, not all Witcher games will be created by CD Projekt RED. The game codenamed Sirius will contain both single player and multiplayer and will be part of the Witcher universe. Development of the new official Witcher trilogy will be done in-house by CDPR while Canis Majoris, another single-player open world game in the Witcher world, will be given to a third-party studio formed by veteran Witcher game developers.
As for Cyberpunk, after the success of Edgerunners and the renewed interest in Cyberpunk 2077 the company decided to move forward with the development of both the expansion and a full sequel by CD Projekt RED itself. Also, CDPR will create a new game codenamed Hadar, based on a fresh IP, though it will probably be a while before it is revealed as it's still in the concept stage.
CD Projekt has a lot of ambitious titles in the works and we hope that the company will learn from its... rush with Cyberpunk 2077 and we won't see any more problems at launch.
