New Expansion for The Witcher 3
It sounds “harsh,” but the truth is that more than ten years have passed since the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. And yet, that hasn’t stopped CD Projekt RED from officially announcing the new story expansion titled Songs of the Past, which is expected to be released in 2027.
Songs of the Past will bring the legendary Geralt of Rivia back into the spotlight, marking the game’s third major expansion following the excellent Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. According to the announcement, the expansion is being developed in collaboration with Fool’s Theory, a team of industry veterans who worked on The Witcher 3 and previously brought us the remarkable Seven: The Days Long and Thaumaturge.
Although CDPR has not yet revealed any details about the story or potential gameplay improvements, early reports suggest an expansion that will explore unknown aspects of Geralt’s past, and it is expected to serve as a “bridge” before the arrival of The Witcher 4.
More information about Songs of the Past is expected to be announced toward the end of the summer.
