Enhanced Edition for Neverwinter Nights 2 possibly in the works

A recent entry on SteamDB has really sparked the rumours of a possible Enhanced Edition of Obsidian's Neverwinter Nights 2.

It's been almost 19 years since the release of the original game, and 16 years since the release of its latest expansion, Mysteries of Westgate. A few days ago, Redditors noticed that an entry appeared on SteamDB with the... rather telling title "Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition". Not exactly a puzzle for strong solvers - the clues clearly indicate that the Enhanced Edition is under construction. However, in the absence of official announcements, let's continue to talk about "rumors" for now.

According to the information on SteamDB, the Enhanced version will occupy about 40 gigabytes on the hard drive, a rapid increase compared to the 5-6 gigabytes occupied by the Complete Edition of the game, which confirms the presence of upscaled graphics. It will also feature localization for 8 different languages and, perhaps most importantly, will include all three official expansions of the game.

The mystery still remains as to who is creating this particular Enhanced Edition. Everyone's minds apparently went to Beamdog, who among other things released the EE of the first Neverwinter Nights. However, a company executive told Steam that his company is not involved in the project.

Pending official announcements and details, then. Either way, the prospect of reliving the GREAT Mask of the Betrayer expansion with upscaled graphics sounds anything but bad...
